Perfectionism is an individual's tendency to demand much more from himself and others than is required by the task. This is happening by setting high-performance standards on which they base their value. Perfectionism can be adaptive and maladaptive. Adaptive perfectionists set high personal standards and strive for success without chronic dissatisfaction with their performance or themselves. On the other hand, maladaptive perfectionists set high expectations and equate mistakes with failure. They have a heightened sense of inferiority and therefore postpone their work until the last moment. Time management refers to the effective manipulation of time and participation in goaloriented activities. Academic procrastination is an irrational and willing delay of an intended action, even though the person is aware of the negative consequences. The goal of this study was to examine the relationships among dimensions of perfectionism (adaptive and maladaptive) and the management of time (including the management of work and time and procrastination) in a sample of Croatian students. Based on this, students filled out three questionnaires on online platforms - The Procrastination Scale for Students, the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, and the Personal Organization Strategy Questionnaire. A statistically significant low and positive correlation was found between adaptive perfectionism and work and time management. No statistically significant correlation was found between adaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination. A statistically significant low negative correlation was found between maladaptive perfectionism and the management of work and time. A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was found between maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination. Furthermore, a statistically significant moderate negative correlation was found between procrastination and work and time management. A statistically significant difference was found between adaptive and maladaptive perfectionists in the management of work and time. Adaptive perfectionists have more efficient skills in organizing work and time than maladaptive perfectionists. A statistically significant difference was also found between adaptive and maladaptive perfectionists in their academic procrastination tendency. Adaptive perfectionists are less prone to academic procrastination than maladaptive perfectionists.
