The topic of this thesis covers the research on the spirituality of the body in the poetry of Sida Košutić and Vesna Krmpotić. The research was conducted on the aforementioned authors’ poetry collections which contained the elements of the spiritual body. This refers to the poetry collections by Sida Košutić: Osmijesi (1940) and Vjerenička ţetva (1942), i.e., to the selected poems that we find in the book entitled Različaka čaša (1997) edited by Božidar Petrač. The first part of the corpus also includes the selected poems from the book Solisticij srca (2002) edited by Stjepan Lice. The second part of the corpus covers the poetry of Vesna Krmpotić, which was analyzed according to the collections Ljubav (2006) and Bog učitelj (2006), i.e. the selected poems that we find in the collection called 108 X 108 (2006). This thesis will show the extent to which Croatian literature and spirituality of Christian / Catholic provenance, as well as spirituality of Indian provenance in Croatian literature shape individual poets’ poetics. Emphasis is placed on the notion of the spiritual body in the humanities. The question of whether dualism or anti-dualism dominates in the poetics of the selected poets will be answered. It will be seen that Vesna Krmpotić is the closest among all contemporary poets to Sida Košutić due to her pronounced aspiration for the transcendence of the body in the verses of selected poetry collections. The aim of the paper is to explore the connection between spirituality and the body and to show how poets portray the spiritual body in their collections of poems based on the poetic articulation of body gestures, symbols, based on the function of space, dialogue and religious motifs.
