Abstract
Kako se tehnologija poboljšava i napreduje, društvene mreže imaju sve veći utjecaj na društvo i odnose među ljudima. Društvene mreže se definiraju kao virtualne zajednice koje omogućuju korisnicima stvaranje individualnog profila, komuniciranje sa svojim prijateljima iz stvarnog života te upoznavanje novih ljudi sličnih interesa. Jedna od omiljenijih društvenih mreža među svim generacijama je Facebook, a najbrojniji korisnici društvenih mreža su adolescenti. Središnji aspekt psihološkog funkcioniranja tijekom adolescencije je samopoštovanje. Mnogo je faktora koji određuju razinu samopoštovanje adolescenata, a jedan od njih je svakako upotreba društvenih mreža. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati postojanje razlike u intenzitetu upotrebe Facebook-a s obzirom na spol i stadij adolescencije te utvrditi postoji li povezanost nekih aspekata korištenja Facebook-a (intenziteta korištenja, broja sati i broja prijatelja na Facebook-u) sa samopoštovanjem adolescenata. U istraživanju su sudjelovala 502 sudionika, 292 djevojke i 210 mladića. Dob sudionika kretala se u rasponu od 12 do 23 godine. Upitnik koju su popunjavali sudionici su se sastojao od pitanja o određenim sociodemografskim karakteristikama, Skale intenziteta korištenja Facebook-a te Rosenbergove skale samopoštovanja. Obradom rezultata utvrđeno je da ne postoji značajna razlika u intenzitetu korištenja Facebook-a s obzirom na spol te da postoji razlika u intenzitetu korištenja Facebook-a s obzirom na stadij adolescencije – najveći intenzitet korištenja Facebook-a dobiven je u kasnom stadiju adolescencije. Također, rezultati nisu pokazali značajnu povezanost intenziteta korištenja Facebook-a, broja sati dnevno provedenih na Facebooku te broja prijatelja na Facebook-u sa samopoštovanjem adolescenata.
Abstract (english)
With the improvement and advancement of tehology, social networks have an increasing impact on society and relationships among people. Social networks are virtual communities that allow their users to create their own individual profile, communicate with their friends, and also to meet new people with common interests. Facebook is one of the most favorite social networks among all generations, and the most numerous users of social networks are adolescents. One of the most important aspects of psychological functioning in adolescence is self-esteem. Many factors determine an individual's self-esteem and one of them is certainly usage of social networks. The aim of this research was to examine if there is a difference in the intensity of Facebook use in view of gender and stage of adolescence and to determine connection between some aspects of Facebook use (intensity of Facebook use, number of hours spent on Facebook and number of Facebook friends) and adolescent self-esteem. The study involved 502 participants, 292 females and 210 males from 12 to 23 years. The questionnaire filled out by the participants consisted of questions about specific sociodemographic characteristics, a Facebook intensity scale, and a Rosenberg self-esteem scale. It has been found that there is no significant difference in the intensity of Facebook use in view of gender, but that there is a significant difference in view of the stages of adolescence (the highest intensity of Facebook use was obtained in late adolescence). Also, it has been found that there is no a significant correlation of the intensity of Facebook use, number of hours, and number of friends on Facebook with the adolescent self-esteem.
