Abstract | Sažetak Intenzivni zahtjevi posla sportaša mogu uzrokovati mnogobrojne nepoželjne posljedice. U istraživanju su korišteni Upitnik sociodemografskih podataka, Upitnik emocionalne regulacije (ERQ), Kratka skala mentalne čvrstoće (SHS), Ljestvica pozitivnog i negativnog perfekcionizma (PNPS) i Upitnik sportskog sagorijevanja (ABQ). |
Abstract (english) | Intensive work demands on athletes can cause many unwanted situations. Sport burnout is a chronic psychological syndrome which includes emotional exhaustion, sport devaluation, and reduced sense of accomplishment, that are connected to a number of personal and contextual factors. Research conducted so far found connections between burnout and mental hardiness, perfectionism (differentiating between positive and negative perfectionism) and emotional regulation (differentiating between cognitive reappraisal and suppression). The aim of this research was to examine gender and age differences and the differences between international and nation level of competition and the content with current contract, and relationships of mental hardiness, perfectionism, suppression and cognitive evaluation with sport burnout on Croatian volleyball players (NU=86, NM=38, NF=48). Average age of participants was M=20.05 (SD=4.829). For the purpose of the research, Emotion regulation questionnaire (ERQ), Short hardiness scale (SHS), Positive and negative perfectionism scale (PNPS) and Athlete burnout questionnaire (ABQ) were used. For the age difference, ANOVA was used. For the gender difference, difference between participants of national/international level of competition and difference considering content with current contract, t-tests were used. For connection between variables, correlation analysis (Pearson r) was conducted. For question of amount of variance explained by predicting variables, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted (stepwise, forward). There is no statistical difference between age groups, genders, participation in national/international competition and content with current contract. Positive perfectionism is positively significantly correlated to sport burnout, negative perfectionism is negatively significantly correlated to sport burnout, and mental hardiness, cognitive reappraisal and suppression are not statistically significantly correlated to sport burnout. Positive perfectionism is a significant positive predictor to sport burnout, negative perfectionism is a significant negative predictor to sport burnout, and mental hardiness, cognitive reappraisal and suppression are not statistically significant predictors to sport burnout. Future research should be conducted on other sports participants in Croatia. |
