Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Process of the Croatian national integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina was triggered by the Austro-Hungarian occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1878. This event caused numerous consequences for the future of that area, while also affecting Croatian national movement, mainly through the political actions of the Austro-Hungarian government. This MA thesis tries to describe the most important events for the Croatian national integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Austro-Hungarian rule. Firstly, it gives the overview of the activities of Bosnian Franciscans, who were the forerunners of the Croatian national movement, while afterwards giving an overview of activities of Croatian political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina, primarily focusing on two persons: the archbishop of Vrhbosna Josip Stadler, leader of the Croat Catholic Association, and dr Nikola Mandić, leader of the Croat's People Union. Moreover, this paper tries to show that Croatian national movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina was primarily influenced by the Austro-Hungarian politics towards national movements, and also by the political situation in the neighbouring Triune Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia.
