Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
In this paper we met Slavonian playwright Grgur Čevapović more closely. His work, Joseph, son of Jacob patriarch which is based on religious themes and the testimony of the vibrancy of our literature on the eve of national revival. Despite numerous political, cultural, and economic conditions, and a difficult period of Josephinism, Čevapović managed to achieve his goals. He organized the Franciscan way of life by issuing the document Statute municipalia, is responsible for printing Katančić's translation of the Bible, and the crown of his activities and the creation is the religious educational drama Joseph. The aim of this paper thesis was to interpret the work that is based on religious themes, and show the influence of the Baroque, the Enlightenment and the late Josephinism to the author and created work. The work is based on textological analysis in which the work is monitored in the context of late Josephinism to detect, with the help of a cultural approach to the text, specific features of biblical themes in Slavonian environment in the 18th century. Using a comparative method, we studied drama in relation to the biblical theme.
