Thomas Aquinas is a Christian theologian and philosopher who lived in the thirteenth century. In his thought, the object of philosophy is distinguished from the object of theology. Throughout this paper the great attention is provided to the position of man in the philosophical thought of Thomas Aquinas. At the outset, the most significant metaphysical concepts of Thomistic philosophy are explained as they are base for the analysis of man. Man is the substantial unity of body and soul. For the human soul specific powers are reason and free will. Further in this paper are mantioned all powers of human soul, while great attention is provided to the power of desire. Discription of power of desire is an overture for passion analysis. The passions are divided between concupiscible passions where there are six and the irascible passions where there are five. Concupiscible passions are love, hate, concupiscence, pleasure, pain and sorrow, while irascible passions are hope, despair, fear, daring and anger. Furthermore in this paper are described the relationships between concupiscible and irascible passions followed by analyzes of all passions individually and conclusion at the end.
