Abstract
Medij se može objasniti kao snažno sredstvo komunikacije koji ima veliki utjecaj u ranom učenju engleskog jezika. Djeca, u današnje doba, okružena su svim vrstama medija putem kojih dodatno usvajaju znanja i vještine koje će im pomoći pri učenju općenito, napose učenju stranoga jezika. Rad obrazlaže pojam medija te naglasak stavlja na masovne medije i nove medije. Glavni cilj rada je ukazati utjecaj medija na rano učenje engleskoga jezika. Motivacija je najveća vrijednost u medijima jer služi kao pomoć u učenju. Motivirana djeca brzo dobivaju informacije i smanjuje se vrijeme za postizanje zadanih ciljeva. Istraživanje je pokazalo da djeca koja se više služe medijima kao pomoći u učenju engleskoga jezika imaju veći vokabular, bolji izgovor i engleske izraze koriste u svakodnevnoj komunikaciji. Naglasak se stavlja na činjenicu postojanje razlika utjecaja medija na rano učenje engleskog jezika s obzirom na mjesto stanovanja. Pomoću anketnog upitnika dobili smo rezultate koji ukazuju kako djeca u manjim mjestima koriste više medije, s toga je utjecaj medija na rano učenje engleskoga jezika veći nego li u gradu.

Parallel abstract (English)
The media can be explained as a powerful means of communication, which has a major impact on the early English foreign language learning. Children, in these days and early age, are surrounded with all types of media through which they acquire additional knowledge and skills that will assist them in learning in general, and, especially in foreign language learning. The thesis explains the concept of the media and emphasis is put on the influence of mass media and new media. The influence of the media can positively and negatively affect children and young people. The main objective of the thesis is to show the influence of the media on early English foreign language learning. Motivation is one of the largest value in the media because it serves as an aid to learning. Motivated children quickly get information and reduce time needed to achieve objectives. Research has shown that children who use media more as an aid to learning English have better vocabulary, better expressions and they use English words in every day communication. Emphasis is put on difference between the impact of the media on the early EFL learning of English regarding the area of residence. By using the questionnaire we got the results which show that children in smaller towns use media more, so the media has more influence on them then on children in bigger cities.
