Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The Republic of Croatia has the longest border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Neum corridor represents the shortest connection between separated parts of the Croatian territory. Construction of the Pelješac Bridge was proposed in 1997, whereas the construction started twice, in 2005 and in 2007, but was postponed. There were numerous discussions among experts on how to connect Croatian territory. This graduation thesis analyses historicalgeographical retrospective of the pattern and consequences of contemporary situation of demarcation in the area of Neum, as well as retrospective of the events related to the discussion and the construction of the bridge. This work also provides an overview of alternative solutions of transport infrastructure such as building an undersea tunnel or a highway through Bosnia and Herzegovina territory. The mentioned highway would represent a part of planned Adriatic-Ionian transport corridor.
