Abstract
Svaki čovjek bi trebao postići određenu razinu tjelesne aktivnosti prvenstveno radi zdravstvenih razloga a onda i radi rekreacije i potrebe zadovoljenja vlastitih potreba. Sve više se govori kako brojne bolesti i oštećenja nastaju zbog nedovoljne razine tjelesne aktivnosti i zato je potrebno osvijestiti djecu u što ranijoj dobi o važnosti tjelesne aktivnosti i našeg napretka, zdravstvenog i tjelesnog.

The aim of thesis was to determine the association between functional ability and level of physical activity and examine the differences in functional abilities and level of physical activity of children under school age according to gender. The study was conducted on a sample of 80 male and female second and fourth grade pupils from primary school Stanovi in Zadar. PAQ-C questionnaire was applied to assess the level of physical activity and a test run for 3 minutes (F3) to assess the functional abilities. Significant differences were obtainet in functional abilities and level of physical activity in relation to gender. Male students have a significantly higher average values. The results showed significant correlation between the test for assessing functional abilities and some parameters assessing levels of physical activity (activity during the break, self-assessment of physical activity and the overall level of physical activity). It was concluded that there is a relationship between functional ability and level of physical activity and that increase in levels of physical activity increases the level of functional ability. The paper presents the results of many previous studies by other authors, which were compared with the results of this research. Physical activity is a major component of human life and, as such, affects the man and what he is doing. Every man should achieve a certain level of physical activity primarily for health reasons and then for recreation and the need to meet their own needs. More and more are talking to a number of diseases and damages incurred due to insufficient levels of physical activity and therefore it is necessary to raise awareness of children at an early age about the importance of physical activity and our progress, both healthy and physical.
