Parallel abstract (English) | The Republic of Croatia found itself in an unexpected situation in 2017. In the beginning of 2017, the country and the region were shaken by the severe business crisis of the largest private company Agrokor. The management of the concern was taken over by the state administration of the Republic of Croatia; Russia and the United States have also expressed their interests. The aim of this paper is to expand the knowledge about Agrokor affair, which ultimately led Interpol to issue the arrest warrantfor the founder of the company – Ivica Todorić– andto determine how the Agrokor affairholds in the global political context and whether and to what extent our national television media were dealing with the business interests of US and Russian investors. This graduate thesis analyzes the Agrokor affair through national television websites of HRT, RTL and Nova TV, as well as consequences the affair had for the Republic of Croatia. In this graduate thesis, a quantitative research was carried out with the help of categories, used to answer three research questions. Together with quantitative analysis, an analysis of media content was carried out within the timeframe: March 1., 2017 - September 1., 2017. All of the articles about the Agrokor affair, that were published on the web-pages in the given timeline, were processed. In the main focus were the articles published in April. By investigating the web-pages it was determined that Agrokor affair took on large proportions, influenced the events on the political scene, but also left great consequences. |
