The paper presents characteristics and different models of autobiographical discourse in Croatian children's literature.It´s a discourse that is full of interesting issues and topics, such as : individual experience, personal identity, everyday life, personal and social history. It´s precisely it´s own childhood and everything that binds to it, that is the starting point for autobiographical discourse of children's literature. Many authors often come back to it in their thoughts because of the freedom from life, the tendency towards playing around and towards imagination. The most dominant model in Croatian autobiographical children's literature is a novel. This paper presents a historical review of female authors who have created various forms of autobiographical prose texts. They are in the order Jagoda Truhelka (Zlatni danci), then Zdenka Marković (Prozori mog djetinjstva), Zlata Kolarić-Kišur (Moja Zlatna dolina), Suncana Skrinarić (Ulica predaka), Blanka Dovjak-Matković (Zagrebačka priča), Ruška Stojanović-Nikolašević (Anina druga mama), Sanja Polak (Dnevnik Pauline P.), and Sanja Lovrenčić (Savršen otok). The authors in their works revive most of their memories of the past events, the games, the gatherings, the mischief , but also the less beautiful memories of war, deprivation, the death of loved ones, violence. Essential characteristics of autobiographical discourse are also presented in these works, and the works are interpreted taking into account the time, space, events, an environment, all of them affecting the perception of childhood itself.
