Abstract
Od samih početaka ljudske civilizacije svjedočimo konstantnim pokušajima manipulacije ljudskim mislima i potrebama. U ekonomiji manipulacija poprima oblik reklame. Danas, u vrijeme ubrzanog razvoja i pojave novih tehnologija te masovnih medija, oglašivačka industrija poprima velike razmjere. Odnosi s javnošću društvena su znanost koja analizira trendove, predviđa njihove posljedice, te provodi planirane programe akcija u svrhu ostvarivanja nekog ishoda. Ovaj rad sagledava povijesni razvoj propagande, odnosa s javnošću i oglašavanja te opisuje metode korištene za manipulaciju masama i daje primjere iz prakse. Rad također opisuje djelovanje oca propagande, Edwarda Bernaysa, kroz primjere nekih od njegovih najvećih uspjeha. Zadnje poglavlje rada bavi se lažnim vijestima te utjecajem lažnih vijesti na predsjedničke izbore u SAD-u 2016. godine.
Abstract (english)
From the very beginnings of human civilization we are witnessing constant attempts of manipulating human thoughts and needs. In the economy manipulation takes the shape of advertising. Today, in time of rapid development and the emergence of new technologies, the advertising industry is gaining tremendous growth. Public Relations are a social science that analyzes trends, anticipates their consequences, and carries out planned actions for achieving a goal. This paper looks at the historical development of propaganda, public relations and advertising, and describes methods of mass manipulation through examples. The paper also describes the work of the father of propaganda, Edward Bernay, through examples of some of his greatest achievements. The last chapter deals with fake news and their impact on the US presidential election of 2016.
