Abstract
Motivacija o učenju drugog jezika je vrlo zanimljivo polje istraživanja u zadnjim desetljećima, a vodeću ulogu ima Dörnyei-ov Inojezični motivacijski sustav pojmova o sebi, koji se temelji na teoriji budućih „mogućih ja“. Cilj ovog rada bio je istražiti motivacijsku dispoziciju srednjoškolaca, kao i razlike među učenicima različitih srednjih škola koristeći okvir Inojezičnog motivacijskog sustava pojmova o sebi. Istraživački instrument je bio upitnik, čiji su analizirani rezultati pokazali umjerene rezultate motivacije kod hrvatskih srednjoškolskih učenika engleskog jezika. Međutim pronađene su razlike između spola, kao i različitih škola. Rezultati pokazuju više razine idealnog inojezičnog ja kod muških učenika, kao i pozitivnije stavove prema učenju engleskog jezika u usporedbi s djevojkama Povrh toga, učenici iz Ekonomsko-birotehničke i trgovačke škole su imali više rezultate traženog inojezičnog ja, dok su učenici Tehničke škole imali bolje stavove prema učenju engleskog jezika u usporedbi s drugim srednjim školama.
Abstract (english)
Motivation in learning a second language has been an interesting field of research for many decades. A major framework in the last decade has been Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS) which is based on possible future selves theory. The aim of this thesis was to explore the motivational disposition of high school students, as well as the differences among students from various high schools using the L2MSS framework. The instrument of the research was a questionnaire, whose analysed results showed moderate levels of motivation among Croatian high school English language learners. However, differences between gender, as well as schools types were found. The results show higher levels of ideal L2 self among male students, as well as more positive attitudes toward learning English compared to females. Moreover, learners from Economic-administration and trade school had higher levels of ought-to L2 self , while Technical school learners had more positive attitudes toward learning English compared to the other high schools.
