Abstract Ovim diplomskim radom analiziran je položaj žena u društvu 19. stoljeća kroz ekranizacije ruskog romana Ana Karenjina. Glavni ciljevi analize i usporedbe američke i ruske ekranizacije istoimenog romana bili su prikazati u kojoj mjeri se isticala podređenost žena te kojim se sve oblicima filmskog zapisa to prikazalo na ekranima. Kako bi postao priznat kao vrsta umjetnosti, film je prošao složen razvojni proces, no njegov potencijal i prednosti koje ima u usporedbi s drugim oblicima umjetnosti, s vremenom su ipak prepoznati. Analiza filmskih elemenata poput kadrova, planova, kutova snimanja i stanja kamere, pokazala je učestalost prizora ženske podređenosti koji zrcale položaj žene u društvu. Patrijarhalni društveni i bračni okovi, koje su žene nosile u svojim srcima, mislima, domovima, posteljama i kazalištima, ograničavali su im slobodu te su primjeri njihovih navodnih slabosti. Postupci Ane Karenjine, koja se pokušava osloboditi normi i narušava sklad braka, potresaju same temelje tradicionalnog društva, zbog čega je naposljetku kažnjena. Oblicima filmskog zapisa redatelji su istaknuli njezinu inferiornost, a krajem na tračnicama prikazali njezinu sudbinu. Među više od trideset ekranizacija Ane Karenjine i nekoliko happy endova, Rose i Solovjov su pogubnim završetkom, posebice detaljima odsječene ruke, Aninog i konjskog oka, prikazali ženski podređeni položaj koji diktira njihovom sudbinom. Iskorak koji je uradila žena patrijarhalno društvo je okrutno osudilo, a taj put od čestitosti supruge i majke do izopćenice, američki i ruski redatelji su detaljno prikazali upravo filmskom umjetnošću.
Abstract (english) This master thesis deals with the analysis of women's social position in the 19th century as shown in the adaptations of the Russian novel Anna Karenina. The aim of the analysis and comparison of the American and Russian adaptations of the aforementioned novel is to show to what degree was women's submission emphasized and by what film parts was that accomplished on the screen. To become a medium of art, film has gone through a difficult development process and its high artistic potential, as well as its other advantages, have gradually become recognized. The analysis of various film elements, such as frames, points of view, angles and camera position, has shown that the depiction of women's inferiority is frequent and as such mirrors her position in society. Patriarchal social and marital manacles that women carried in their hearts, thoughts, homes, beds and theatres limited their freedom and were examples of their supposed weaknesses. The actions of Anna Karenina, who is trying to liberate from norms and disturbs the harmony of marriage, distract the foundations of a traditional society, which is why she is punished on the end. By the film parts, the directors emphasized her inferiority and using rails to show her end, they present her destiny. Following more than thirty adaptations of Anna Karenina and only few happy ends, Rose and Solovev have shown in their destructive ending enriched with the details such as Anna's cut-off arm and similarities between Anna's and horse's eye, how women's inferior social status controled their destiny. The transgressive act such as Anna's was harshly disapproved of by the patriarchal society and the path from the reputable wife to the lowest social position of a woman was thoroughly represented in both American and Russian film adaptations.
Abstract (russian) В настоящей дипломной работе проанализировано положение женщин в обществе 19-го века посредством экранизаций русского романа Анна Каренина. Основными целями анализа и сравнения американской и русской экранизаций одноименного романа были представить, в какой степени подчеркивается подчиненное положение женщин и какими видами композиции фильма это демонстрируется на экране. Пройдя сложный путь развития, фильм стал признанным видом искусства. С течением времени осознаны его потенциал и преимущества по сравнению с другими видами искусства. Анализ элементов фильма, таких как кадры, планы, ракурсы и движение камеры, показал частоту появления сцен, где женщины показаны в подчиненном положении. Патриархальные оковы общества и брака, которые давили на женщин и ограничивали их свободу в мыслях, дома, в постели, обществе, являются причиной их предпологаемых слабостей. Действия Анны Карениной, которая пытается освободиться от норм и нарушает гармонию брака, рушат основы традиционного общества. Поэтому в конце романа она наказана. Используя разные виды композиции фильма, режиссеры подчеркивали ее инфериорность и ее судьбу представили через смерть на рельсах. Среди более тридцати экранизаций Анны Карениной, включая несколько "хеппи-эндов", режиссеры Росе и С. Соловьев продемонстрировали подчиненное положение женщин, диктующее их судьбу, приводящее к гибельному концу. Они это потвердили с помощью деталей: отрубленной руки, глаз Анны и глаз лошади. Патриархальное общество жестоко осудило поступок, сделанный женщиной; именно через киноисскуство русский и американский режиссеры подробно представили этот путь от праведной жены и матери к отвергнутым слоям общества.
