Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The attention that has recently been given to active learning and teaching is not surprising, because it stems from the needs of today's society in which information becomes very quickly available to everyone. This is the reason for the intensified need to promote pupils' life-long learning, which not only emphasizes content learning but also the acquisition of meta-cognitive skills, critical thinking and social competence. The aim of this research was to determine the types of school projects, to investigate the ways in which they are organized and to determine the respondents’ experiences about the use of methods and strategies of learning and teaching. Also, the experiences about project managers' role and the role of pupils in the project's implementation were also examined. The results have shown that teachers and expert associates who are project managers, use active methods and strategies of learning and teaching with the highly predominant use of demonstrations, practical work and cooperative learning with emphasis on group work. In the organizational part of the project, greater emphasis is given to project managers, while during the implementation of the project pupils dominate by actively participating and acquiring life-long learning skills. However, these results have to be taken with precaution and the theme of school projects should be additionally investigated because of the small sample of respondents, so research on a greater scale could provide different results.
