Sociology of religion arises from the critique of religion. The classical sociologists inspired by the idea of progress believed that science's progress would become unnecessary and thus suppressed by science through it's advancement. Such expectations are corespondent with thesis of secularization. Whether the emergence of modern society becomes more secular is not entirely correct,. In the modern period there was a reduction of ecclesiastical religiosity. But at the end of the Second World War, in the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century, there was a new phenomenon of the emergence of various sects, and movements which in theory share a common name, new religious movements. Theorists such as Peter L. Berger, Thomas Luckman, Jakov Jukić, and Gilles Lipovetsky associate new religious movements with postmodern or late modern phenomena in society. Thus, New Religious Movements turn to the personal dimension of success and self-realization, combining different teachings: traditional, eastern etc., and most of all their consumer dimension is emphasized. Various movements, along with traditional religions, compete on the sacred trading market, while individuals choose from the various offers. Accustomed to spectacle and entertainment, people often change and supplement their "collage" of religiosity.
