Abstract

Aquae Iasae are Roman baths with natural spring of thermal mineral water located in the small town of Varaţdinske Toplice. Archaeological studies have confirmed its usege for 2000 years. Ancient population used this spring for bathing, cult and social purposes, and the proof is this incredible complex that was for four centuries constructed, reconstructed and adapted to the needs of society and current time. The entire complex includes bath building with basilica, the forum surrounded by porches, Capitolium with temples that are most likely dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, and a spring of thermal waters located in the center of the forum. This health balneological complex can be divided into several phases of construction: early imperial, flavian-antonine, constantinian and post-constantinian.
