Abstract
Biljnogeografski pripada mediteranskoj vegetacijskoj regiji i submediteranskoj vegetacijskoj zoni. Manje površine zauzima i kamenjar ljekovite kadulje i kovilja Stipo – Salvietum officinalis Horvatić (1956.). Određene površine zauzimaju i kulture crnogorice pošumljene alepskim, crnim i primorskim borom, te čempresom i cedrom. Vegetaciju ovoga područja treba sačuvati i to primarno u bilo kojem stadiju iako bi bilo poželjno da to bude klimaksni, a gospodarsko uzgojnim tehnikama zaustaviti daljnju degradaciju i tijek sukcesije iz negativnog promijeniti u progresivni s ciljem vraćanja autohtone vegetacije ovog područja.

Novigrad municipality includes three villages (Novigrad, pridraga and Paljuv), and from the north leaning on Novigrad and Karin sea. The vegetation geobotany belongs to the Mediterranean vegetation region and Submediterranean vegetation zone. The characteristics of the forest cover of Novigrad area is extreme degradation and it is primarly because of uncontrolled grazing and deforestation. Climatic conditions also contributed to the degradation, and it can be seen that the degree of degradation is larger in the vicinity of the settlement. Because of this, the climatogenic vegetation is present in significantly altered ie. degraded form. For this area, there is no detailed phytocoenological dana and map, what indicates that detailed vegetation studies were not conducted. Therefore, this paper presents avaliable data which were analyzed and with experiential sampling method compared with the situation on the field. This paper also provides recommendations on further scientific research activities and scientific processing on vegetation of this area. It is evident, that the Querco – Carpinetum orientalis Horvatić 1939, is most common vegetation community of this area and also the most represented community of Dalmatia. The vegetation is also represented with shrubbery Rahmno – Paliuretum Trinajstić 1995, as a penultimate stage of degradation on forest vegetation. In this community Juniperus oxyedrus has a special role, characterized by the development of typical sub-Mediterranean rocky pastures of association Koelerio-Festucetum illyricae Trinajstić 1992. Smaller areas are covered by association Stipo-Salvietum officinalis Horvatić (1956) 1958. Certain areas occupy the cultures of coniferous, forested with aleppo, black and coastal pine, cypress and cedar. Vegetation of this area needs to be preserved primarly in any state of sucession, but it will be desireable for that to be in climatogenic state. With forest-engineering tegniques we need to stop further degradation and direction of sucession change from negative to progresive (positive) with the purpose of rehabillitation autochthonous vegetation of this area.
