Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The first part of the thesis presents biography, literary creation, and the characteristics of Tin Ujević poetics. The second part interprets Tin Ujević’s poetry through the prism of the three selected conceptual contrasts: the attitude towards the religion, the ratio of the inner and the outside world of the lyric subject, and the relationship between individual and society. Within the analysis of the above mentioned contrasts, the motifs of death, eternity, loneliness, travel, and the sea are especially emphasised. In addition to his poetry, analysis of these motifs also relies on Ujević’s prose work, literary criticism, biography, autobiography and his literary and other influences, especially connection to Charles Baudelaire, his life in Paris, and the infatuation with the Far East.
