Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
In Poljica were, as well as in the whole of Dalmatia, during two centuries (16th and 17th century.) happened confrontations of three powers: the Ottoman Empire, the Venetian Republic and the Habsburg Monarchy. The confrontations were characterized by changing borders, the constant uncertainty and economic underdevelopment. The migration processes, which took place in the Early modern period, in Poljica did not lead to drastic demographic change. Comparing the works of other authors and analysis of the "state of soul" we came to conclusion that immigration of Vlach population and emigration of the local population in neighboring areas, held a permanent population in Poljica without large fluctuations in numbers. The main reasons for migration in Poljica was the Turkish threat from the east, which was prevalent from the 15th to the 18th century. Indicator of migration movements in Poljica are surnames from Poljica which are stored in the registers and other documents mainly in neighboring areas (Split, Omiš, Brač, Vis), and even in Venice. Antroponimyac analysis of first and last name proves the fitting position of Poljica’s population in the characteristic features of other antroponymiac Croatian regions in the 17th and 18th centuries. Names form Poljica are marked with name/surname formula in which each name has one meaning. The research of antroponymiac features revealed elementary everyday life which made tradition in Poljica.
