Abstract

Despite the fact that the state of the Netherlands does not have a lot of „sun & sea“ product to offer, it is still a very popular holiday destination. One of the main reasons of visiting the Netherlands are their typical culture, tradition, history, as well as many attractions this country has to offer. What is also considered as a big advantage oft his country is it's relatively small surface, which allows it's visitors to have a real „look around“ in a relatively short time period. The Netherlands annually receives more than twelve million foreign tourists, with about 30 million overnight stays. It has a relative constant of 3.6 million overnight stays in camping for several years already. The main motives of arrivals into Croatia are still passive rest and relaxation (75%) and entertainment (45%). Guests, who already visited Croatia once, are mostly liked to visit again. The highest percentage of arrivals continues to be road traffic transport (64%), and about 44% of guests have their staying in Croatia in between 8-14 days. Croatia boasts quite a number of camps that were given high marks by the German ADAC, such as Solaris Camping Beach resort, Holiday Camp Zaton and Camp Straško in Novalja. The most frequent guests in Croatian camps are German, following inhabitants of the Netherlands and Austria (both about 10%), Italians (8%), as well as guests from Slovenia with 17% of total overnight stays at Croatian campsites. When comparing the prices of Croatian campsites with the prices of other accommodation facilities, camps are less expensive option, which is one reason more to pick out this kind of holiday in nature. When comparing advantages and disadvantages of Croatian campsites with other destinations oft he Mediterranean, it is visible that Croatia has a big lack of recreation and entertainment facilities, for adults, as well as for children. The average length of stay in Croatian camps is 6.7 days, while the average spending per tourist a day is about 48€.
