Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Friendship has always been an extremely interesting and challenging subject for many philosophers and scholars over the course of the entire human history. They put forward their contemplations and postulates, trying to find the optimal way of defining friendship and getting to its very core. Naturally, these reflections changed through history, as from one century to another humanity came to new cognitions about life and everything surrounding us. Thus, one of the most widely known theologists and church scholars, Thomas Aquinas, put forward his reflections on the subject of friendship in his extensive opus ''Summa theologica''. Amidst the abundance of his theological questions, he also reflected on the subject of friendship to a certain extent. As he largely studied Aristotle throughout his schooling period, he wanted to give his contribution to Aristotle's reflection on friendship. Therefore, he gave a theological dimension to all of the previous cognitions, claiming and emphasizing the belief that true friendship can only be attainable by putting God and love for God in the center of one's life.
