Abstract
Cilj ovoga rada je pokazati kako pošlost' funkcionira u pripovijetci „Zaručnica“ A. P. Čehova. S obzirom na to da je riječ o konceptu koji se smatra kulturno neprevodivim, ali i dijakronijski dinamičnim po pitanju značenja, a kojemu su ruski klasici 19. stoljeća pristupali različito, prvo je poglavlje posvećeno upravo rasvjetljavanju tih aspekata. U drugom se dijelu prelazi na analizu u kojoj se kroz pomno čitanje nastoje istaknuti pripovjedna sredstva kojima se prikazuje junakinjino osvještavanje pošlosti i koje u konačnici vodi do bijega od nje.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this work is to examine poshlost in A. P. Chekhov’s short story “The Fiancée”. Given the fact that the concept itself is considered culturally untranslatable, but also diachronically dynamic in terms of meaning, and was adversely addressed by the Russian classics of the 19th century, the first chapter is dedicated to clarifying precisely these aspects. In the second part, we move on to the analysis in which, through careful reading, an attempt is made to highlight the narrative means by which the heroine's awareness of poshlost is shown and which ultimately leads to an escape from it.
